To be completely honest, you probably won't know my wellness idols. You wont read about them in Women’s Health and Fitness, nor will you see them as the face of Lululemon. This is because I take my inspiration from the everyday people that I meet. So even you - yep, little old you - could be my #inspo. Here’s why:
- You are actively bettering yourself. Whether you are committing to that walk with your bestie instead of sleeping in on a Saturday morning, or maybe you’re cutting out sugar for 30 days after learning how damaging it is to your brain; your action of seeking ways to reach a healthier place in your mind and body genuinely excites me. To know that you are pursuing a greater version of yourself is simply beautiful - and regardless of how big or small the change is, you are motivating others to do the same.
- You have a positive mindset. No rain dampens your parade, because you’ve got good vibes from the inside. That inner energy that radiates from your soul, the warmth that can be felt by all in your space - you’re an inspiration, exactly as you are. We all know that a healthy body starts with a healthy mind: so by sharing your goodness you can drive others to embrace their own - which leads to a community of thriving individuals.
- You are loving towards #1. By looking out for recipes that nourish your body (FYI - my recipe section is the place to go), engaging with invigorating exercise on a regular basis and by saying ‘it’s ok’ to enjoy a third scoop of banana nice cream / lay in bed all Sunday watching the Twilight series / go for a gentle walk instead of an intense gym session - these behaviours are conveying ‘I am being kind to my soul’. This quality inspires me because above all, wellness comes from love, and love can only be shared between each other when we feel it inside first.
So I know when you saw the article ‘My wellness inspirations” you probably expected a host of famous people and links to their websites. Nada, not here. Instead, realise that you - yes, you - could inspire me. More-so, you hold an incredible power to influence each person who comes into contact with you - and by appreciating this, you, me, all of us - have a responsibility to become the healthiest beings we can, inside and out. Both for ourselves, and those who share our lives.
