This piece was originally written for the girls at Vie Activewear - and i’m excited for it to be shared with their community. However, after writing it I felt it was perfect for all of you who read my blog too, so wanted to feature it here. Enjoy x
Spring is here and it’s all about re-energising after our winter slumber. Personally, I couldn’t think of anything better - the days are longer, the sun is shining and Acai bowls are more prevalent than ever. Rebooting post hibernation comes in many forms - a bali raw food retreat, a pressed juice cleanse or a 30 day challenge at your local Flow Athletic, one way or another, there is a conscious shift in reawakening the body. But before munching on your next kale salad, read on for the key element that will make or break it for you.
Just to warn you, i’m not going to say something beyond your control, like that the moon has to align with Jupiter for you to create success. Rather, the crucial component is your mindset. And although you’ve probably snapshotted your favourite quote on instagram recently for a little #mondaymotivation, you may not appreciate how critical this is.
Your mindset is your filter on life - it’s all perception, right? If you believe that the journey to your healthier self will be easy, rich, fulfilling and fun - it will be. You’ll seek out opportunities to energise your body with lively, interesting exercise; you will enjoy choosing the quinoa salad with almonds and avocado for lunch; and lastly, you will embrace the opportunity to go for a walk in the sun instead of drinking yourself under the table at The Bucket List come Saturday afternoon. The power of the mind really is that powerful - not even joking. You can train yourself to love this process, or to hate it.
All it really takes is a consciousness of your thoughts and directing them to a constructive place. We all have attitudes regarding food and exercise, and if yours aren't leading you up the pathway to health heaven then it's time to reset. All are beliefs are are ideas that once passed into our head, and therefore we can change them - all it takes is committing to a new set of principles, a-la "I always choose the healthy option at dinner because I want to nourish my body".
This might sound weird, trippy or hypnotic, but really - besides from negative thinking, what do you have to lose?
