After many years as a fitness firster, probably because it’s in my building - i’ve said goodbye. Now, Fitness first gets a lot of slack - it’s difficult to leave, the staff are problematic, etc etc. But in my experience, it was great. Probably largely because it had the cross trainer (my favourite piece of exercise equipment EVER) in every venue, but I genuinely had a good time. So my reasons for leaving were not out of dislike - I just simply met the guys down at PE Dept and would prefer to support a local business than a multinational. They are super nice and give you free fruit - how could I say no?
Located in Potts Point, PE Dept has state of the art facilities that make you feel quite #sportsluxe during your sweat session. With a PT in every corner of my eye, there is always someone looking out for me during my leg presses if I struggle a little (it happens, I like to think i’m stronger than I am sometimes). There is a huge array of equipment, allowing me to mix up my workout - which is key because I like to train a lot, but I get bored easily. This means that my body is constantly challenged too, raising my fitness levels higher and higher.
Although I’m a fitness lover, it’s really important to find a place where you actually love to work out - regardless of if this is your backyard, the beach or a local yoga studio, making peace with your training area is key to actually looking forward to the experience and it being a lasting component of your lifestyle. With respect to PE dept, alongside the sessions I undertake myself I’m super excited to try the classes - apparently the yoga is incredible, and the specialised V8 classes sound like a treat too.
With GHD appliances, fruit on offer and towels free to use, PE Dept is an awesome spot to train. I’ll keep you all posted on different classes and probably a series of photos via instagram of me doing squats, playing on the BOSU and trying to flex my biceps while doing barbell curls (I did that this morning actually). For anyone who’s keen to join, let me know - love to have you!
For more info / to join, head to the PE Dept website. And if you're keen to try before you buy - the girls at Body Pass make it easy for you as this luxe gym is one of the ones included in their membership. Happy training!
